Paul Ryan and I, Fellow Miamians

Miami University in Oxford, Ohio
Just an interesting factoid: Congressman Paul Ryan, now the republican Vice-Presidential candidate  got a got a bachelors in economics from the same place I did, Miami University. (That's in Ohio, not Florida. In fact the city of Miami, Florida was named after a company located on the Great Miami river in Dayton, Ohio, if you must know...)

He went to Miami years before I did, and we did not, in fact, get the same degrees--his was a BA and mine was a BS. However, if my information is right we did take the same course ECON 380, Government and Business, with the same Professor James Brock.

I try not to be too biased, but sometimes I wonder how often Ryan skipped class...

Update: Another notable Miamian comes to Mind: Chung Un-Chan, Prime Minister of South Korea, who got a masters degree in economics from Miami before heading to Princeton for his phd.

Actually I know that Ryan could not have skipped more than 3 times in ECON380. Dr. Brock has a policy on that.

True, but Paul Ryan also finished college in the early 90's. Maybe Dr. Brock's policies have had a chance to evolve :P
