For any of you aspiring economists, here's a shout-out to the revamped masters program in Economics from my alma matter, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The program is unique in the fact that it can be completed in one calendar year, which includes both course work and a masters thesis in either Applied Economics or Financial Economics. As economists would say, the program comes with a lower opportunity cost than most masters programs, taking up only one year of your life instead of the usual two.

If you do decide to go for a masters in economics at Miami, you'll be in good company--former Prime Minister of South Korea Chung Un-chan holds an MA in economics from Miami University. Graduates from Miami regularly make it into Phd programs at top-tier schools--since I've been at Cornell University, the phd Economics program has accepted at least one Miami graduate every year.
